How did I get into banking?
My career in banking began in 1999 as a retail teller at Abington Bank. During the day, I served customers at the branch and, at night, pursued my education at Penn State Abington, eventually graduating from Gwynedd Mercy University. My passion for finance emerged as a teenager when I managed the invoices for my father’s business at just 14 years old. That experience early on taught me the value of responsibility, attention to detail and the importance of financial principles, lessons I still carry with me today.
Why Mid Penn Bank?
From the moment I met the executive team at Mid Penn Bank, I knew it was where I belonged. Their personalized approach to leadership, commitment to employee development and emphasis on valuing the contributions of every employee are what make the organization truly unique. It’s rare to see a CEO who takes the time to recognize individual employees, whether it’s during Thanksgiving visits, holiday tours, or a simple note of appreciation. This thoughtful leadership is what drew me here and is what continues to inspire me every day.
2025 Goals: Setting myself up right with small wins every day
I believe in continuous improvement, both personally and professionally. For 2025, I’m focused on building my network, starting a daily journaling practice, and striving to be just a little better than I was the day before. Goals can be overwhelming, but I’ve learned that progress comes from small, consistent steps. One day, I hope to turn these reflections into a book, sharing the experiences I’ve gained as a woman in a male-dominated industry.
What I like about Malvern and its market
Working in Malvern provides the benefit and proximity to many of our key banking markets and clients. I love being able to meet with customers just minutes away at a locally owned business or right at their place of work. Building meaningful relationships and finding ways to give back to the community is truly rewarding. Supporting our customers is not just part of my job, it’s something I take pride in every day. If they are successful, so are we!
My question and answer
How can we, as leaders in banking and finance, ensure women feel empowered to grow their careers and take on leadership roles in this industry?
This is a question I’m passionate about exploring. Through my own journey, I’ve learned that leadership is about visibility, support, and the belief that everyone’s contribution matters. I hope to continue creating space for women to grow and thrive in this field, just as others have done for me. While this has been a continuous effort, I’m happy to say I’ve helped multiple women navigate their careers, secure new opportunities and recognize their successes. It’s rewarding to hear that I’m contributing to this shift and playing a role in a movement that empowers women to rise, lead and thrive.
