Insiders Guide To Zelle

From paying the babysitter to splitting the dinner bill, Zelle is the fast, safe, and easy way to send or request money among peers (1). In today’s blog we will dive into a step-by-step guide on how to access Zelle through your Mid Penn Bank Mobile Banking App, how to send or receive funds, and how to stay safe in today’s changing digital landscape.

How Do I Setup Zelle?

At Mid Penn Bank, customers can access Zelle through online banking or the Mid Penn Bank Mobile Banking App. If you are not already enrolled in online banking, you must first visit the Personal Online Banking Page and enroll. Once enrolled, you will be able to use your username and password to access both online banking and our mobile app.
In online banking, you can access Zelle by navigating to Bill Pay and then selecting “Send Money with Zelle”. After accepting the terms and conditions, enter your email address or U.S. mobile phone number, receive a one-time verification code, enter the code, and you are ready to start sending and receiving funds with Zelle. Once your account is verified, you may also access Zelle in the Quick Links section of your Mid Penn Bank Mobile Banking App dashboard.

How Do I Send Money With Zelle?

Sending money through Zelle is as simple as adding a contact and selecting the amount you would like to send. With Zelle, you can add a trusted recipient by using their email address, U.S. mobile phone number, or Zelle account QR code. Alternatively, you can also add recipients if they are already in the contact list on your phone. Once you identify your recipient, you can enter the amount you would like to send. Below is a link to a quick video tutorial that will walk you through each step of sending money through Zelle.

How Do I Request Money With Zelle?

To request money through Zelle, select the “Send Money Through Zelle” icon in your online banking or Mid Penn Bank Mobile Banking App dashboard. Once in Zelle, select “Request” and add the trusted sender’s email address, U.S. mobile phone, QR code, or select the user from your contact list. After selecting the sender, you may then select the amount for your request (2). A note option is available to provide additional details to the requester regarding your request.

Lastly, you will be prompted to review the details of the request and confirm. After sending the request, you will receive a confirmation. Below is a link to a short video tutorial on each step of the request process in Zelle.

How Do I Split A Bill With Zelle?

When going out to dinner with friends or family, splitting the bill is easy with Zelle. Simply select “Split” from the option list in your dashboard and select the contacts who will help split the bill. Next, enter the total amount of the bill. Zelle will automatically divide the amount evenly among each contact. Then select “Split”. A request will go to each contact you provided. How to Safely Use Zelle

Third-party retailers and resellers can be an attractive option for finding great deals online. However, never send money to someone you don’t know. If you are buying an item second-hand or through a lesser-known retailer online, exercise caution before sending payment through Zelle. Once money is transferred to an enrolled account through Zelle, it cannot be retrieved.

If you sent money to the wrong person, we recommend contacting the recipient and requesting the money back. If you are not able to recover the funds, please contact our customer care team at 1-866-642-7736.
