John Wanninger has an entrepreneurial spirit. He looks for where there are opportunities to create a differentiator as he has started or owned 42 businesses in the last 40 years. John started his first business at 15 years old. Today his businesses and services include roofing, solar, home inspections, business brokerage, beauty supply products, and mattresses.
John initially moved to Nebraska in 1997 to start AmeriSpec Home Inspections. John and his team built this into one of the largest property inspection companies in the Nation, inspecting nearly 10,000 structure a year. Along the way his team started another seven home services companies to service their clients. Drawing from this extensive experience and background in construction, John ventured into the roofing and exteriors industry in 2017, starting Red Rhino Roofs.

Another business John owns is Beauty First, Nebraska’s largest, locally owned beauty supply store. BeautyFirst Salon and Store was established in Nebraska in 1985, where they pride themselves on being your locally owned home for all beauty needs. Going on over 30 years, they have four locations in Omaha and two locations in Lincoln. Each location offers a full-service salon, as well as over 250 professional-level brands in hair, skin, nail care, and cosmetics. This company prides themselves on being locally owned, but well beyond that is a passion to help women be their very best through exceptional product knowledge and a passion for those they serve.
John, along with his close friend, Nico Marasco, recently launched a franchise, Snooze Mattress Company. Why? Because the mattress industry needed an upbeat brand that offered the industry’s best lines at not only the best prices in the marketplace but also with crazy good service. John’s businesses has received many awards and recognitions including BBB accredited, Greater Omaha Chamber Member, and Home Advisor Member. John’s advice to others looking to start their own businesses is to not start if you are not 100% committed and willing to go all in. If you are, then don’t wait till you’re 100% comfortable, because that day will never come. Get 80% comfortable and then jump out of the airplane, you can sew your parachute on the way down.
