I heard from one of our clients in Washington County recently, and she is totally killing it! Her score increased by 114 points on Credit Karma the day after getting her case number. That’s right, the DAY after filing it went up 114 points.
Her financial situation was not an outlier either. She had 2 vehicles, one with a loan against it, and a number of personal loans, some of which had been used for debt consolidation. She had some student loans, but they were about 1/3 of her total debt load.
We were also able to file on Xcel Energy, our electricity company, and stop a power shutoff. In Minnesota, delinquent utilities don’t show up on credit reports, so this isn’t why it jumped so much!
Believe it or not, most clients have a 720 credit score only 2 years after filing. It’s normal to get car loans within a month of filing, and a mortgage only 2 years after filing.
